As soon as the first color is applied, put one pompom firmly in the dish and finish the top of the stencil with the other. This shading may be the same color, darker at the top, or two different colors. Use two dishes, one for each color. It is good to shake each pompom before reloading color to avoid two colors mixing on the brushes, and at the same time, to wipe excess color from the tools (see plate 15, Morisset).
